What does hiring cost, beside your own hours?
Seven roles, priced at the low end of pay for Ontario or the US, with the source for every figure. Put in your own hours and what your time is worth, and see them side by side.
Department: Operations
Your time against the cost of hiring
The seven roles behind a team that covers marketing, sales, operations, automation, AI and software. For each one, enter the hours a week you spend on that work, and what one hour of your own time is worth.
Your estimate
- Your hours a week, in total
- Your time, a month, at your hourly value
- Low end of pay for the same hours, pro rata, a month
An estimate worked out in your browser. The figure for your hours is the sourced monthly floor times your hours, divided by a full-time week of 40 hours (pro rata). Each role counts at most 40 hours, one full-time week, in both columns. A hire for only a few hours a week may not be possible at this rate. Leave an hours box blank if you spend no time on that role. It leaves out recruiting, equipment, training and any pay above the low end. Your numbers are not saved or sent, and no email is asked for.
How this is worked out
FIG. 01
SHEET 01 OF 01
The monthly figure for each role is the floor from our Sources page: the low end of pay, with employer costs, and nothing more. It is a floor, not a full cost. How we worked it out is on the Sources page.
Your time = your hours a week, times 52, divided by 12, times what you said one hour of your own time is worth.
The low end of pay for your hours = the monthly floor, times your hours, divided by 40.
Both columns count at most 40 hours a role.
The first is your own arithmetic; the second is that arithmetic applied to the sourced floor.
